Baseline hydration needs can be estimated using a rider's typical morning body weight. This doesn't need to be updated with small changes, but if the typical morning weight changes significantly, you may want to recalculate your hydration needs.

- If you are drinking the minimum or somewhere between the minimum and your upper fluid goal and continually dehydrated according to your self-assessments, gradually increase fluids up to your upper fluid goals or when your morning self-assessments are regularly hydrated.
- If your self-assessment is indicating dehydration but you are regularly hitting your upper fluid goal, increase electrolyte concentration.
